Our next race is the Annual OVKA Memorial Championship Race, honoring all of those who created and developed the Ohio Valley Karting Association into one of the longest-running go-kart clubs in the country, over our 59 year history!

The "Champ Race" runs on the Original G&J Kartway "A" Track Configuration and follows a unique 2-day format, including special Qualifying format, a Heat Race, and a Feature Race that awards Trophies & Plaques, as well as an at-track catered dinner & family-fun festival:

NOTES FOR ALL MEMBERS AND VISITING RACERS:
We will be performing Safety Pre-Tech Inspections on ALL KARTS for the Champ Race, INCLUDING REGULAR 2023 MEMBERS WHO HAVE PREVIOUSLY UNDERGONE INSPECTION. Please review the OVKA RULE BOOK as well as the Example Pre-Tech Inspection Form before the event. (Rules regarding lead weight mounting will be strictly enforced; please confirm that your washer & bolt sizes meet OVKA required minimums, and ensure all weights over 7lbs have at least TWO bolts!)

The OVKA Championship Season returns on June 24-25th with our first Double-Header weekend of the year! Saturday and Sunday will follow the same morning timetable.

Saturday (Race 4) features a 5-minute Qualifying -> Heat Race -> Feature Race format on Configuration 2A.

Sunday (Race 5) features a 5-minute Qualifying -> Extended Feature format on Configuration 1A.

The 2023 Season may just be heating up, but we're already looking to the future - Join us online on Tuesday, June 13th at 7:00pm for our OVKA Future Planning Session! Bring your ideas and suggestions to our virtual whiteboard, where our committee members will lead the attendees in discussion to help develop our vision for the coming years. Your input and feedback will be directly used to focus our efforts and resources on the ideas and improvements that matter most to our members!

This will be a laid-back, collaborative exercise and discussion session, open to all OVKA General Membership. Bring your thoughts and ideas for how OVKA can continue to provide quality club racing in the coming years, while evolving with the rapidly changing world of modern Pro Karting. Join us with your thoughts and suggestions for everything from class structures and season schedules to rules, race day procedures, and wild event ideas!

The meeting will be held on the Microsoft Teams link on the Board Meeting page. A virtual whiteboard link will be made available for those who join to post and participate in our guided discussion session. See you on Tuesday night!

OVKA Points Race #3 is SATURDAY, May 20th and is our first Night Race of the season, running on track Configuration C. Visit our SERIES INFORMATION page (https://ovka.com/series-information/) for rules, format, and all relevant competition info. Come out and join us under the lights!

**Please remember to bring your clear or amber helmet visors to change into at dusk if you run a tinted visor during the day. Tinted visors are not permitted for use on-track after sunset.**

A reminder for our OVKA members and friends: G&J Kartway will be hosting the first OMRL race of 2023 this weekend, May 5-7. The track will be closed to kart practice for these days. For our members with trailers stored at the track: we ask that you please move them to the "Free Pit Spot" area against the west fence as a courtesy to our OMRL guests.

While the forecast for Sunday continues to improve, we've had some questions about our weather policies, should they be needed during the season. Our Wet Weather policies & procedures are listed in Appendix D of the 2023 Rulebook, available at https://ovka.com/rules/

OVKA uses Hoosier Racing Tires for all of our classes, and requires the Hoosier WET compound rain tires for all points-scoring participants. If you are still in need of some you can contact our resident Hoosier Tire dealers Pat Slattery or Doug Cook who may still have some available for purchase at the track.

The 2023 OVKA Season kicks off one week from today with our Karting 101 driving school on Saturday April 22 and OVKA Points Race #1 on Sunday April 23. Karting 101 will follow the schedule shown below.
